As a small business owner you will no doubt have come across the term ‘ideal client'.
You have probably heard of it in the context of niching. And in this context identifying your ideal client can feel like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, which none of us want, either literally or figuratively!
But identifying and understanding your ideal client doesn't have to be about niching. It can be about focus! In particular, focusing your marketing efforts on the group of people most likely to buy. It’s not about only working with those clients that fit your ideal client profile.
Furthermore, whilst your ideal client may be of a particular gender or age, it doesn't need to be that way. Something that can be a stumbling block for many. There are a range of parameters for determining your ideal client as my clients have discovered. A particular mindset, for example.
Not only that, identifying and then understanding your ideal client can help you figure out what makes your product and service so attractive and stand out to your target customers.
So instead of being something that restricts you, working on your ideal client actually opens up opportunities.
