Especially if you want a pipeline of customers that are of a consistently high value to you.
You need to understand your market, who you are targeting, define a value proposition for your product or service and create a plan to take it all to market. Then you need to activate that plan as a programme to attract, engage and nurture customers. All the while you should be regularly testing and measuring and making adjustments to the plan where required.
Some people may go through many of these steps intuitively. Others might just get lucky for while. For the majority, we either put the effort in to work through each step or we are left scratching our heads wondering why our marketing isn't working - because we didn't know we actually needed to take all those steps.
There isn't a silver bullet when it comes to marketing. And what marketing encompasses is so much broader and deeper than most people realise.
However, knowledge is power and knowing this means you can begin working on taking all the required steps and not just the ones you were aware of.
